President Richard M. Nixon is one of the most negatively viewed American presidents of all time. He is the only president ever to resign, and throughout his political career has been apart of many controversial issues ( Kent State Massacre, Watergate, ect.). However not everything Tricky Dick did was bad for our nation, and many of the good things he did have been overshadowed by the Watergate scandal. One of the many good things he did while in office was expand on the Environmental programs, and created the Environmental Protection Agency in a time where pollution was at its worst. He also improved our relations with foreign countries around the world, especially communist nations. Nixon strengthened our relations with China, and opened up trade connections with millions of consumers across the sea, and in doing so, set the table for our economy today. He also was president when we sent a man to the moon, which was a huge victory for Americans. Another thing he did was help to restrict the amount of nuclear weapons being produced by Americans and the Soviets. Overall, Nixon did some very good things for our nation, but they are overshadowed greatly by the Watergate scandal, which is why Nixon is wrongly viewed as one of our worst presidents.
